AUS vs BAN: Starc Tears Through Bangladesh With 6/12, Aussies Skittle Them for 64

Mitchell Starc produced a devastating spell in the second Test at Mackay, ripping through Bangladesh’s batting lineup with figures of 6/12. Australia bowled the visitors out for just 64 after Starc struck with the very first ball.

Shadman Islam was dismissed for a duck, giving Starc his ninth Test in which he has taken a wicket in the opening over. He moved past James Anderson, who had achieved the feat eight times.

Starc then continued his rampage, taking five wickets in his first seven overs. Bangladesh slumped to 12/5 before Pat Cummins added three wickets to reduce them to 39/9.

Taijul Islam and Shoriful Islam added 25 runs for the final wicket to help Bangladesh reach 64. Despite their resistance, it became Bangladesh’s lowest Test total against Australia and their lowest score in a Test on Australian soil.

Starc’s six wickets also took his Test tally to 441, moving him past South African great Dale Steyn’s 439 wickets. He now sits 10th on the all-time Test wicket-takers list.

Australia were 50/3 at tea in reply, with Steve Smith and Cameron Green at the crease.
