Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has called for a strategic partnership with Australia to strengthen skill development efforts across the state. In a meeting with Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, on Sunday, Khandu underscored the pressing need for skilled trainers to support major sectors like construction, infrastructure, and hydropower, vital to the state’s growth.
Khandu highlighted the importance of equipping local youth with globally competitive skills, especially as Arunachal Pradesh embarks on ambitious infrastructure and hydropower projects. “Our state requires specialized human resources, and collaboration with Australia could bring in much-needed expertise,” Khandu said.
High Commissioner Green expressed Australia’s willingness to support these initiatives, commending the state’s peaceful environment and cultural richness. He affirmed that Australia is eager to foster partnerships aimed at enhancing skill development and preparing Arunachal’s workforce for global opportunities.
Also present at the meeting were Australian Consul General Hugh Boylan and Vice-Consul Harriet White. The discussions concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing optimism about future cooperation in workforce training.
