Longitude 77, the premium Indian single malt from Pernod Ricard India, has expanded its presence in eastern India with its official launch in Kolkata. The unveiling took place at ITC Sonar, bringing together whisky enthusiasts, industry experts, and select guests. The Kolkata launch comes on the back of strong global recognition for Longitude 77, which has won Gold medals at the London Spirits Competition, The Global Spirit Masters by The Spirits Business, and Monde Selection, along with a Bronze at The International Wine & Spirits Competition. The whisky is crafted by the master blenders associated with globally known brands such as Chivas, Glenlivet, and Jameson, drawing on over 200 years of whisky-making heritage.
Renowned whisky expert Jim Murray praised Longitude 77 for its balance, clarity, and complexity, noting that it stands alongside some of the finest Scotch blends and single malts. Master Blender Mahesh Patil said the whisky reflects India’s unique terroir, with double maturation in American bourbon barrels and wine casks and further aging in Dindori, Nashik.
The launch event featured curated food pairings inspired by Kolkata’s flavours, followed by a guided tasting session. The expansion into Kolkata is part of Longitude 77’s wider strategy to grow in premium whisky markets across India and abroad.
