Badruddin Ajmal urges President to stop eviction drive in Assam

All India United Democratic Front MP Badruddin Ajmal wrote to President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday regarding the ongoing eviction drive in Assam.

In the letter dealing with the eviction drive in Assam, Badruddin requested the President to direct the Assam government to stop evictions in Assam during the winter season and make alternative arrangements for those evicted. Ajmal said that the eviction drive is inhumane and discriminatory. The letter was sent to the media on Thursday.

“What is most outrageous is that the eviction drive has been launched in a selective and discriminatory manner targeting members of a particular community,” Ajmal said in his letter. “Some people have been evicted from areas where they have lived for decades.”
