Bajaj General Insurance announces launch of ‘Fetal Flourish’, India’s first dedicated fetal health insurance rider

Bajaj General Insurance Limited (formerly known as Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited) on January 14 announced the launch of Fetal Flourish, a pioneering fetal health insurance rider designed to support advanced in-utero medical interventions and high-risk pregnancies, at an affordable premium of ₹1,025. Unveiled in Pune, the rider is offered along with the company’s flagship health insurance products, My Health Care Plan and Health Guard. Fetal Flourish is applicable for women aged 18 to 45 years and carries a waiting period of nine months from policy inception. The rider provides coverage of up to ₹2 lakh per maternity event for the first two maternity events under the base health indemnity policy.

The offering covers 16 specialised in-utero procedures, including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetoscopic laser surgery for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, fetal reduction, intrauterine transfusion, surgeries for neural tube defects, fetal cystoscopic surgery, and procedures for congenital diaphragmatic hernia, among others.

The announcement comes amid rising demand for advanced fetal care, with reports indicating that around 17% of women in India give birth after the age of 35, increasing pregnancy-related complications and the need for early medical intervention.

Commenting on the launch, Dr. Tapan Singhel, MD and CEO of Bajaj General Insurance, said the rider aims to ease the financial burden on families facing medical complexities during pregnancy, allowing them to focus on treatment rather than costs.

With Fetal Flourish, Bajaj General Insurance said it is strengthening its commitment to innovation in healthcare protection by extending insurance support to one of the earliest and most sensitive stages of life.
