Bank of Baroda, one of India’s leading public sector banks, announced the list of 12 nominations for the first edition of the “Bank of Baroda Rashtra bhasha Samman” Awards 2023. The Nepali Novel ‘Fatsung’ is among the 12 novels nominated for the award.
The Bank of Baroda Rashtrabhasha Samman Award will be presented to the author of the original work and the Hindi translator of the award-winning book. The authors and translators of the next five shortlisted books will receive Rs. 3.00 lakh and Rs. 2.00 lakh respectively. Ms. Geetanjali Shree, renowned author and Booker Prize winner, chairs the five-member awards jury.
The event was organized in Darjeeling, Author Mr. Chuden Kabimo and the translator Ms. Namrata Chaturvedi participated in a panel discussion. Fatsung explores the hopes, aspirations and dreams of a Pahari community, crossing language and culture to tell a story of humanity. Mr.Sonam Tshering Bhutia, Zonal Head& General Manager, Bank of Baroda said “The ‘Bank of Baroda Rashtra bhasha Samman’ award is a national plat form for talented Indian writers from different parts of the country and this initiative will further boost the Indian language literature as well as encourage literary translations.”
