India’s G20 Presidency held Digital Economy Working Group ministerial meeting in Bengaluru on August 19, 2023. The meeting was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a video message.The Prime Minister during his address said, “India’s digital public infrastructure provides viable, secure, and inclusive solutions to global challenges”. Noting the security threats and challenges posed by the global spread of the digital economy the Prime Minister said “It is important to build a consensus on the G20 High-Level Principles for a secure, reliable and resilient digital economy.”
The Digital Economy Working Group meeting in Bengaluru, India, took place from August 16-18, coinciding with the G20 Digital Innovation Alliance Summit. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology Rajiv Chandrasekhar.
The G20-DIA initiative, launched by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Startup Hub, focuses on accelerating startup growth in six sectors: ed-tech, health-tech, agri-tech, fin-tech, secured digital infrastructure, and circular economy. Over 170 startups from 29 countries participated, and 30 startups were honored during an award ceremony.
