Bengaluru initiate to launch advanced electric buses for public transportation

Bengaluru citizens will soon have smarter, safer, and greener public transportation with Tata Motors’ smart electric bus. The prototype was flagged off by Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Minister of Transport, Dr. N.V. Prasad, Secretary to Government, Transport Department, and Ms. G Sathyavathi, Managing Director, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd. and BMTC have signed an order for 921 state-of-the-art 12-metre low-floor electric buses for 12 years. Tata Starbus EV, an indigenously developed bus, offers sustainable and comfortable commutes with superior design and features.

The Starbus EV is a top-of-the-line electric bus with advanced safety features and a powerful, energy-efficient electric drivetrain. It reduces air pollution and climate change impact with zero tailpipe emissions. The e-bus features a new-gen electric powertrain, Integrated Transport System, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Brake Distribution, and advanced telematics system. Tata Motors has supplied over 900 electric buses in India, clogging over 8 crore kilometers and maintaining over 95% uptime. Commenting on the announcement, Ms. G Sathyavathi, IAS, Managing Director, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, said, “We look forward to supplementing our fleet with Tata Motors’ new, smart electric buses.”
