Bharat Ratna for Modi BJP MP’s demand triggers mixed political reactions

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi be honoured with the country’s highest civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’. Claiming that the new generation wants this honour, the MP made the appeal right in front of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Participating in an event organized at the National Museum, the MP advocated for this highest honour for the Prime Minister.

According to the claim made by the BJP MP to news agency PTI, more than two and a half thousand representatives of the new generation who participated in a three-day painting exhibition held at the National Museum expressed their desire to the Home Minister to give Bharat Ratna to Modi. Taking up their request, the MP said that the Prime Minister is the rightful recipient of this honour for his selfless service to the nation and for completely changing India’s image on the world stage.

MP Vikramjit Singh said, “In the past, many Prime Ministers have been awarded Bharat Ratna. If Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi can receive this honour, then Narendra Modi, who has been dedicated to serving the nation for the last 25 years, should certainly also get Bharat Ratna.”

Apart from Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena was also present at this exhibition organized by the World Punjabi Organisation based on the Prime Minister’s 25 years of public life. Meanwhile, after this MP, who recently left the Aam Aadmi Party to join BJP, raised such a demand for the Prime Minister, mixed reactions have been created in the political circles of the country.
