A fire broke out in a coach of Vande Bharat Express from Bhopal to Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Terminal at Kurwai Kethora railway station in Madhya Pradesh on Monday.
However, all passengers were safe at the time of the incident, and officials extinguished the fire, ANI said. Officials have shifted 20-22 passengers present in the coach to another coach. News agency PTI reported that no passengers were injured.
According to Indian railways, the fire started from the battery box of a coach of Vande Bharat Express. The train left Rani Kamalapati station, formerly known as Habibganj, for Delhi’s Hazrat Hijamuddin Terminal.
The fire was noticed at 6.45 am in the battery box of the Vande Bharat Express coach from Rani Kamplapati station to Hazrat Nizamuddin terminal, an Indian Railways official said.
Officials immediately stopped the train between Kurwai and Kaithora stations in Vidisha after receiving information about the fire. “We have received reports of fire and smoke spreading in the battery box of Coach C-14 of Vande Bharat Express 20171 which runs from Rani Kamalapati station to Hazrat Nizamuddin Terminal (Delhi),” said Rahul Srivastava, CPRO, West Central Railway. A team of fire brigade immediately reached the spot and evacuated the passengers safely. Indian Railways personnel conduct the repair work.
“A fire was reported in the battery box of a coach of Vande Bharat Express at Kurwai Kethora station. The fire brigade reached the spot and doused the fire,” the Indian Railways said.
