Bihar: Patna’s version of Marine Drive to open for public today

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the Ganga Path expressway in Patna today at 4pm. Hailed as Patna’s personal ‘Marine Drive’, the 6.5km long path connects Digha to Patna Medical College and Hospital . The road has been built on a 13m high dam.

The 6.5km stretch is just the first section of the Ganga Path project, which includes a 21km long throughway from Digha to Didarganj. About Rs 3160 crore is estimated to be spent on the whole project.

In 2011, the suggestion to construct a ‘Marine Drive’ in Patna was surpassed by way of the government, after which Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone in Patna in 2013.

GANGA GHAT

Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen stated that after the inauguration of the first segment of the Ganga Path, the distance from Digha to PMCH will be only 15 to 20 minutes.

Along with CCTV cameras, speed guns will also be set up on this expressway so that human beings can’t run over dashing automobiles unbridled.
