Bihar: Railway job aspirants vandalise train in Gaya, set coach on fire

A train was allegedly set on fire by protesting railway job aspirants over the recruitment exams. The agitated protesters vandalised trains and pelted stones. Stones could be seen all over the platform at the railway station and visuals also showed broken windows of a train.

“The CBT-2 exam date was not notified. The result is still awaited. We demand cancellation of the CBT-2 exam and release of exam result,” ANI quoted a protester.

Meanwhile, SSP Gaya Aditya Kumar said that the situation is now under control.
“They have set it (coach/train) on fire, we have identified some of them,” ANI quoted Kumar as saying.

“We want to tell the students that they should not get influenced by anyone, and not damage govt property,” said Kumar, adding, “A committee has been formed by the govt to look into the matter.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Railway said that a high power committee has been formed to look into the concerns and doubts raised by candidates in regard to the results of the 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT ) of Centralized Employment Notification CEN 01/2019 of Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) issued by Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) on 14-15 th January 2022.
“Candidates may submit their Grievances to Committee till 16th February, 2022,” the ministry said in a tweet.

Officials said that in Sitamarhi, police fired in the air to disperse demonstrators at the railway station. Protests were also reported from Patna, Nawada, Muzaffarpur, Buxar and Bhojpur districts.

Several trains were cancelled or ran on alternative routes on Tuesday on account of the protests.
