‘Biporjoy’ to hit Gujarat this evening, 74,000 people displaced

Over 74,000 people have been evacuated as dangerous Cyclone Biporjay is forecast to hit the Kutch coast at 4 pm today. The cyclone is expected to bring winds of up to 150 km per hour, with heavy rains posing a serious threat to the region. A red and orange alert has been issued in several districts of Gujarat, indicating the situation is serious.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held discussions with the heads of three departments focusing on preparedness and response measures. Eight states, including Kerala, are on high alert as a possible risk of a cyclone looms.

The India Meteorological Department has issued warnings for Lakshadweep Union Territory and states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Gujarat in particular is braced for possible devastation caused by Cyclone Biporjay. Areas with high population density are most at risk, requiring proactive measures to protect lives and property. Bhuj airport has been closed till tomorrow and hospitals in Kutch are on high alert to deal with any emergency.

The Army is ready for rescue operations, ensuring quick response to any critical situation. 67 trains from Gujarat have been canceled for the next two days due to inclement weather.
