BJP Registers Landslide Victory in Arunachal Pradesh Local Body Elections

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Arunachal Pradesh achieved a significant victory in the recent elections held on December 15, securing a majority of seats in the Zilla Parishads and Gram Panchayats. The party claimed 170 out of 245 Zilla Parishad seats, including 59 uncontested, thereby demonstrating its dominance in district-level local bodies. In the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) elections, the BJP won 14 of 20 wards. Conversely, the regional People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) succeeded in the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC), winning five out of eight wards. The final results from the State Election Commission indicated that the PPA secured 28 seats, while the Congress party garnered seven. Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed gratitude to the electorate and party workers for their support and emphasized the BJP’s commitment to a stronger, prosperous Arunachal Pradesh under the party’s leadership and the Prime Minister’s guidance.
