Blenders Pride Fashion Tour Finale in Kolkata signals new market momentum for craft-led innovation

The Blenders Pride Fashion Tour concluded its 2025 edition in Kolkata, unveiling a boundary-pushing vision of craft-led innovation that industry watchers say could spark commercial opportunities for India’s fashion sector. The finale, staged on a barge anchored on the Hooghly River under the Howrah Bridge, showcased designer Anamika Khanna’s AK|OK collection with actor Ishaan Khatter as showstopper.

In collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the event challenged long-held craft traditions, transforming zardozi, chikankari and mirror work through futuristic tailoring and metallic interventions. Responding lasers, scaffolding and a dramatic speedboat entry highlighted a new performance-driven presentation format aimed at global audiences.

With premium consumption expected to grow in eastern metros, brands are eyeing Kolkata’s affluent market clusters from Park Street to EM Bypass for expansion. The tour’s high-impact staging is expected to fuel demand for designer labels and experiential retail tied to heritage themes. The Riverine Museum aboard The Bengal Paddle vessel reinforced the city’s cultural-commercial appeal.

Debasree Dasgupta, CMO, Pernod Ricard India, called the showcase a statement on fashion’s transformation. Khanna said reimagining traditional craft for contemporary markets was exhilarating. Khatter termed the experience “exciting,” while FDCI Chairman Sunil Sethi said the collaboration would shape future fashion business strategies.
