Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma laid the foundation stone for the 24 MW Tuirini Small Hydro Electricity Power Project in Aizawl district, costing Rs. 676.98 crore. The event was attended by Home Minister K Sapdanga and chaired by Power Minister F. Rodingliana. The project is externally funded by the New Development Bank, with 80% of the cost covered by a loan from the Central Government and 20% by the State Government. This follows the inauguration of the 10 MW Thenzawl Solar Power Plant and ongoing construction of a 5 MW plant at Sumsuih. The proposal was submitted to the State Government in February 2024, approved in April, and will take five years to complete.
