‘Brahmins leave the campus’ slogans at JNU; admin calls it ‘exclusive trend’

The Jawaharlal Nehru University administration ordered a probe after graffiti citing “exclusive tendencies” was sprayed on the walls of the university’s School of International Studies and on the doors of some faculties.

On Thursday, the administration noted that some faculty members sprayed graffiti on the door of the School of International Studies, saying, “Go back to the branch” and other statements. As of Thursday night, it was not known which student group – if any – created the graffiti.

The Acting Registrar issued a notice on Thursday evening stating that the Dean, School of International Studies and the Grievance Committee have been asked to investigate and submit a report to the Vice-Chancellor.

“Vice-Chancellor has taken serious note of the incident of defacement of walls and faculty rooms by some unknown elements in sis of JNU. The administration condemns these exclusive tendencies on campus. Such incidents will not be tolerated because JNU belongs to all,” the notification said.
