BSF busts smuggling networks in Tripura, seizes contraband worth ₹20 lakh

The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura intensified its anti-smuggling operations, confiscating contraband valued at ₹20 lakh in two separate incidents along the India-Bangladesh border. In the first operation at Anandpur, BSF personnel intercepted 4,115 packets of firecrackers worth ₹10.60 lakh being smuggled into Bangladesh.

The second seizure occurred near Border Outpost Dipak, where BSF troops recovered 80 new mobile phones and 239 bottles of cough syrups, including Phensedyl and Eskuf, valued at ₹9.34 lakh. The operation was conducted on December 31, 2024.

Cough syrup smuggling remains a significant concern due to its misuse as an intoxicant in the region. The BSF has ramped up vigilance along Tripura’s border areas to curb such illegal activities.
