BSV leads snakebite awareness campaign, focuses on 4A’s for better treatment and prevention

With the monsoon season heightening the risk of snakebites, Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited (BSV), a Mankind Group Company, has stepped up its initiatives to combat the growing health crisis, especially in rural areas. As the leader in high-quality snake antivenom for over two decades, BSV is focusing on the 4A’s of Awareness, Accessibility, Availability, and Action to ensure timely and appropriate treatment.

Sivani Sarma Deka, COO of India Business at BSV, emphasized, “We believe it is our responsibility to ensure the right treatment is administered at the right time and place. Our efforts are centered around forging multi-sectoral collaborations, community education on prevention, and providing healthcare providers with continuous medical education on snakebite management.”

The government’s move to make snakebites a “notifiable disease” will improve data collection and resource allocation, ensuring better access to treatment. Dr. Majumdar Dayal Bandhu, Retired Senior M.O. at Calcutta National Medical College & Hospital, highlighted that over 58,000 deaths annually occur due to snakebites, stressing the need for early identification and intervention.
