Social media giants like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram may face ban in India if they fail to comply with the new intermediary guidelines for social media platforms. The three-month deadline given by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITy) to accept these guidelines ends today i.e. May 25 but none of the giants have so far accepted the new regulations. The rules will be effective from tomorrow despite these companies seeking a total six-month delay in their implementation. Fuel prices hit all-time high; petrol rate nears Rs 100-mark in Mumbai

The oil marketing companies (OMC) hiked petrol and diesel prices on Tuesday across the country. Petrol price was increased by 23 paise per litre and diesel by 25 paise a litre, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers. After today’s hike, petrol prices in Delhi rose to Rs 93.44 per litre against Rs 93.21 on Monday, while diesel price soared to Rs 84.32 per litre as compared to Rs 84.07 a litre on Monday. Tata Steel to continue giving salaries to dependents of employees falling victim to Covid

Tata Steel would continue to pay monthly salary to the family of all employees who die due to COVID-19, the Jamshedpur-based steel manufacturer has announced. The salary would be paid till the retirement age of the deceased - that is 60 years. The monthly pay would be the same as the last salary which the person drew before his demise, Tata Steel said in a statement issued on May 23. Reserve Bank of India transfer Rs 99,122 crore as surplus to the Centre

The Reserve Bank of India has announced that it will transfer Rs 99,122 crore as surplus to the Centre for the nine months ended March 31, 2021. The central bank, which has followed a July-June accounting year, is transitioning to an April-March accounting year from this fiscal. The surplus is 73.5 per cent higher than the Rs 57,128 crore payout last year. But it works out to an increase of 131.34 per cent over a proportionate payout of Rs 42,846 crore in the nine-month period of the previous year.
