Q1 GDP data: Employment-creating sectors get hit drastically

The April-June quarter GDP data, released on Monday, showed thedeepest damage in the employment-creating sectors, likeconstruction and manufacturing. Domestic petrol prices were increased by 9-11 paise per litre in the metros on Friday whereas diesel rates were left unchanged at existing levels. In Delhi, the price of petrol was raised to ₹ 81.94 from ₹ 81.83 per litre with effect from 6 am on August 28, while that of diesel was retained at ₹73.56 per litre, according to notifications from state-run Indian Oil Corporation.
