Biyuram Wahge, minister of health, family welfare, and water resources, officially opened the Butterfly Park in Pakke Tiger Reserve in the Pakke Kessang district on Friday. The butterfly park, which is situated at the West Bank Forest Camp, seeks to support local ecotourism and biodiversity conservation initiatives. Wahge also took a tour of the Butterfly Information Center, which has informative displays about the ecological functions of the local butterfly species. The center offers tourists an interesting and educational voyage into the world of butterflies with its Virtual Reality experience and Digital Interactive Panel.
The minister emphasized sustainability by taking part in the tree-planting campaign known as “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” which represents the value of conservation. During the program, impacted families received Human-Elephant Conflict Mitigation Kits, demonstrating PTR’s continued dedication to promoting harmonious coexistence between people and animals.
Other noteworthy events included the introduction of a “Elephant Song” and the start of an elephant positive reinforcement training program for mahouts, both of which demonstrated PTR’s commitment to compassionate wildlife management techniques. Additionally, the minister unveiled the new Pakke Tiger Reserve website, which provides easily navigable details on biodiversity, tourism, and conservation.
