Polling in the bye-election to the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency in Tripura was conducted peacefully amid tight security arrangements across the constituency. An average voter turnout of 79.84 per cent was recorded till 5pm.
Earlier, voting began at 7am in 55 polling stations, with a large number of voters turning up at each centre throughout the day.
Adequate arrangements were made to ensure smooth conduct of polling, including the provision of wheelchairs for elderly and specially-abled voters at all polling stations.
Voters, from senior citizens to first-time electors, appreciated the calm and orderly atmosphere and thanked the Election Commission and local administration for ensuring a smooth and hassle-free voting process.
