The Economics and Statistics Department observed National Statistics Day on Sunday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prof. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, the founder of Indian statistics. At the state banquet hall, RGU Vice Chancellor (i/c) SK Nayak commended field officers for raising statistics awareness. Director Bebing stressed Mahalanobis’ contributions and the need of reliable data in policy and development, as well as the release of the National Sample Survey Report on Village-level Development Indicator 2022. The ceremony took place in Daporijo, Upper Subansiri, in the panchayat hall, where Assistant Director Taniam Dagiam and EAC Taya Yullu emphasized the importance of statistics. Students sang songs, and winners of essay competitions were recognized, with Aken Natam taking first place.
