Secretary of the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region (DoNER), Sanjay Jaju, visited the archaeological and tourist site of Unakoti at Kailashahar on Saturday. During his visit, Jaju explored the magnificent rock-cut sculptures and architectural carvings on the hills.
He also reviewed the initiatives taken to enhance the site’s tourist appeal and enquired about the ongoing works being carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India. Speaking on the occasion, Jaju said his three-day visit to Tripura is aimed at reviewing the ongoing and completed projects funded by the central government.
He was accompanied by Director of DONER, Vivek Goyal, State Planning Secretary L.T. Darlong, and Unakoti District Magistrate Tamal Majumdar, among others. On his arrival, Goyal was accorded a warm welcome by officials of the Archaeological Survey of India and the Unakoti district administration.
