Chandrayaan-3 Leaves Earth’s Orbit, Next Stop Moon

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said late on Monday night (July 31, 2023) that Chandrayaan-3, which was successfully launched from Sriharikota two weeks ago, has completed its orbit around the Earth and is now heading towards the moon to start the next phase. Mission. The lunar injection took place between midnight and 12.30 am on Monday, according to official confirmation.

After translunar entered orbit, ISRO announced the news via Twitter, “Chandrayaan-3 mission:

Chandrayaan-3 orbits the Earth and heads towards the moon.

Performing a successful perigee-firing on ISTRAC, ISRO entered the spacecraft into translunar orbit.

As soon as it lands on the moon, a lunar-orbit insertion (LOI) is planned for August 5, 2023. “

An ISRO representative told PTI that the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft left Earth’s orbit and was on a trajectory that would eventually bring it close to the Moon via Trans-Lunar Injection (TLI) on Tuesday. After the TLI strategy on Tuesday, which placed the spacecraft on a lunar transfer trajectory away from Earth’s orbit, the spacecraft began its voyage to the moon. According to the ISRO announcement, the lander was scheduled to land on the lunar surface on August 23.
