The District Women and Child Development Department and the Papum Pare District Administration jointly observed Child Rights Day at Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 on Wednesday. ICR DC Talo Potom gave inspirational remarks, emphasizing the ways in which hard work, self-discipline and perseverance can lead to achievements. He encouraged the students to utilize the facilities offered by the federal and state governments through their respective departments.
Jaya Taba, Deputy Director, Upia ICDS, said the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” programme was launched centrally to save, educate and empower girls, empowering them to build a balanced society. She highlighted the provisions for the protection of children, especially within their own families and relatives, and called upon them to oppose any form of violence against women or girls. She urged everyone to call the Child Helpline Hotline 1098, which is open round the clock, to get help from the authorities. Dr. Kipa Jitu, Medical Officer of Chimpu PHC, gave a lecture on nutrition education and menstrual hygiene.
