City bus owners campaign for using masks

With the daily rise in COVID-19 cases in West Bengal, the Bus Owners’ Association on Saturday said it will launch a campaign among bus staff and passengers to use masks while traveling in passenger vehicles.

Secretary of the Joint Council of Bus Syndicate, Tapan Banerjee said in a statement that the association will distribute masks among bus employees near Esplanade Bus Depot on June 26 and request them not to remove the masks.

The syndicate had issued guidelines on March 10, 2020, during the coronavirus outbreak, which included wearing masks and washing hands with sanitizer.

Apart from this, bus operators followed some state-imposed restrictions on passenger load and occupancy for several months during the unlocking phase.
