CM Manik Saha to inaugurate 19 new projects in South Tripura

The Tripura government is set to inaugurate 19 new development projects worth ₹32 crore in South Tripura, covering key sectors such as education, healthcare, and local administration. Chief Minister Manik Saha will formally launch these projects on Friday, reinforcing the state’s commitment to improving public infrastructure and service delivery.

The initiatives are part of a broader effort to bring quality government services closer to citizens, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. A significant portion of the investment is focused on enhancing educational institutions under the Vidyajyoti Scheme, with new school buildings and science laboratories to be inaugurated at Kalashi High School, Baikhora English Medium High School, Manubankul High School, and Srinagar High School.

In the health sector, a 20-bed Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Muhuripur is ready for operational rollout. Additionally, Block Public Health Units (BPHUs) at Maichara PHC and Manubankul Community Health Centre (CHC) will be inaugurated. These facilities are expected to improve access to essential healthcare in underserved and remote locations, especially in tribal belts.

To strengthen administrative efficiency, the state will open new Tahasil Kachari (T.K.) offices in Maichara, SBC Nagar, Radhanagar, Matai, Jolaibari, Baikhora, and Bhuratali. These offices will help improve revenue collection, land record management, and grassroots-level governance.

A special focus has been placed on supporting Scheduled Tribe students. New hostel accommodations have been built, including a 50-seater ST girls’ hostel at Kalashi High School, a 100-seater ST girls’ hostel at Sabroom Girls’ High School, and an ST boys’ hostel at Chatakchari High School. These hostels are intended to promote higher enrolment and reduce dropout rates among tribal students.

Speaking about the initiatives, South Tripura District Magistrate Muhammad Sajad said, “These projects cover critical departments like education, health, and revenue. With new hostels, healthcare units, and upgraded Vidyajyoti schools, we’re delivering on our promise to bring development to the grassroots.”

Officials noted that the projects align with both state and national goals, particularly under the “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” mission. “These are not just infrastructure projects. They are stepping stones towards building a Viksit Tripura by 2047, in partnership with the Government of India,” Sajad added.
