Coca-Cola India celebrates a sustainable victory at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 with their ‘Made in India’ recycled PET flags

In a spectacular display of innovation and environmental consciousness, Coca-Cola India and the ICC introduced the ‘Made in India’ National and Cricket 4 Good Flags during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, held across the USA and the West Indies. These flags, crafted entirely from recycled PET bottles, not only symbolized national pride but also underscored a commitment to sustainability in global sports.

Measuring an impressive 35 meters by 20 meters, each national flag utilized approximately 11,000 PET bottles, while the ICC Cricket 4 Good Flags employed 2,000 bottles, processed by Go Rewise and Ganesha Ecoverse Limited. This initiative showcased India’s leadership in recycling technology, setting a new standard for eco-friendly practices in sports events worldwide. Rajesh Ayapilla, Senior Director-CSR and Sustainability for Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, emphasized the significance of these flags, stating, “By transforming post-consumer plastic bottles into symbols of national pride, we celebrate both cricket passion and environmental responsibility.”

In Guwahati, the enthusiasm for these sustainable flags resonated deeply, highlighting the city’s growing awareness and support for eco-friendly initiatives. This initiative not only enhanced the tournament’s atmosphere but also inspired a global movement towards greener sporting events.
