Cognizant launches Ace Team program to build next generation of AI engineers

Cognizant has announced the launch of its Ace Team Program, a strategic initiative aimed at developing a new cohort of AI-ready engineers to drive digital transformation projects and support the company’s transition into an AI builder organization. The program combines a selective hiring process, an elite talent development pathway and a centrally governed engineering community aligned with Cognizant’s advanced capability strategy. It is designed to create a pool of high-potential engineers who will work on real-world client challenges using AI-native tools, modern architectures and outcome-driven approaches.

According to Cognizant, Ace Team members will be deployed in focused, high-impact teams and will contribute to the development of emerging technology solutions, including agentic AI systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and large language model-integrated applications. The initiative will initially focus on India and support the company’s three-vector strategy of Hyperproductivity, Industrializing AI and Agentification. “The launch of the Cognizant Ace Team program marks a critical step in strengthening our engineering depth as enterprises move rapidly from AI experimentation to real-world execution,” said Rajesh Varrier, President – Global Operations and Chairman & Managing Director, Cognizant India.

In Kolkata, the initiative reflects growing demand for AI and digital engineering talent across eastern India’s technology and services sector. Industry observers believe such specialised hiring programs could create new opportunities for skilled graduates and professionals as enterprises increasingly invest in AI-led transformation and next-generation technology platforms. Selection for the program will be based on technical competency, AI fluency and communication skills, with candidates undergoing multiple assessment stages before joining as full-stack AI engineers. Cognizant plans to gradually expand participation to premium campuses, partner institutions, internal associates and lateral hires with relevant experience.
