Cooch Behar’s Rash Mela is the largest fair in North East India. This year, this fair entered 210 years. In other words, this Rash Mela of Cooch Behar is one of the many ancient fairs. Cooch Behar Municipality has taken a big step with this Ras Mela.
Under the leadership of State Eco Tourism Department Chairman Raj Basu, the initial phase of work has started to get Cooch Behar Rasmela recognized by UNESCO. They held a press conference on this matter. Yesterday mayor Rabindra Nath Ghosh was present at this conference.
By 2023, the team is aiming for UNESCO’s recognition for the fair. Besides, during the next Rasmela, the heritage places of Cooch Behar will be illuminated.
