COVID: In Karnataka, Mysuru reports the first case of the Delta Plus variation

According to Health Minister K Sudhakar, Mysuru has reported the first incidence of the Delta Plus strain of COVID-19 in Karnataka. The afflicted person is asymptomatic, and none of his contacts have contracted the virus. “We have isolated one patient infected with the Delta Plus form in Mysuru, but he is asymptomatic and none of his primary or secondary contacts have it. That’s a positive indicator “Sudhakar spoke to the press.

The state government is closely monitoring the emergence of novel variants, according to the minister, and has planned to establish six genomic labs throughout the state. Karnataka conducts 1.5 lakh to two lakh COVID-19 tests per day, according to Sudhakar. He stated that the government is distributing immunizations to all districts where Delta Plus sequencing is suspected.

Sudhakar said that preparations are on to establish up paediatric units with ICUs and recruit doctors and nurses in all districts within 45 days to deal with the third COVID wave, which is thought to afflict children.
