Tripura’s political landscape is set to intensify as Tipra Motha prepares to lead a protest rally on September 26, highlighting the alleged persecution of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. The demonstration, planned for the South District, aims to draw attention to the reported attacks on Hindus following the formation of Bangladesh’s interim government.
Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma announced the rally during a press conference on Monday, expressing deep concern over what he called “planned attacks” on the Hindu community. He urged India to escalate the issue to the United Nations if Bangladesh fails to address these concerns.
“These attacks are unacceptable,” Debbarma said, recalling similar incidents from the mid-20th century. He warned that if Bangladesh doesn’t change its course, India must act on the global stage. Debbarma also called for unity across religious communities, inviting Muslims in Tripura to join the rally and condemn the actions of the Bangladeshi government. “I hope that Muslims in Tripura will stand with us and condemn these actions,” he added.
