Delayed school building work irks KASU: Nagaland

Kiphire Area Students’ Union (KASU) has expressed resentment over the slow progress of work on auditorium hall and renovation of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kiphire building even after two years.

The union claimed that the work order was issued on March 4, 2019 and the time frame for completion was 18 months from the date of issue of work order.

In a press statement, KASU president, Trongdiba C Sangtam and general secretary, Tarsesh alleged that Kiphire has been selected as Aspiration district as it lacked behind in many development fronts particularly in Education sector.  “Kiphire being an aspiration district, priority should be given to any government developmental work which is the aspiration of the people”, the union stated.

It thanked the government for allotting work on construction of Auditorium and renovation of the school building sanctioned under Ministry of Tribal Affairs. However, the union claimed that the contractors with their irresponsibility have “only attempt to murder the future of the students and public in general”.

KASU stated that if the renovation was not carried out at the earliest, it will endanger the life of students and faculty members, as the “building was on the verge of collapse”.

Therefore, the union appealed to the competent authority to strictly instruct the contractors for execution of the permitted work within a time frame period or re-tender the work order to some sincere and responsible persons for the upliftment of students’ community and public in general.
