Delhi becomes second city to cross 50,000-mark after Mumbai

New Delhi: With a spike of 3,137 new cases in last 24 hours, the number of coronavirus in Delhi crossed the 50,000-mark, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare while adding that 66 fatalities were reported during the same period, taking the city’s fatality rate to 3.8 per cent.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the national capital has reported 53,116 cases of the highly contagious coronavirus and 2,035 deaths due to the virus. With this, Delhi has also become the second city in India after Mumbai to report more than 50,000 cases of the novel coronavirus.

The number of active coronavirus cases in Delhi currently stands at 27,512 while the recovery rate in the city is at 44.37 per cent as 23,569 people have been cured and discharged from hospitals, said the Health Ministry.
