The Delhi government has issued new rules to wear masks in public places. As per the rules, a fine of Rs 500 will be imposed for not wearing masks in public places in the national capital. Penalties shall not apply to persons traveling together in private four-wheelers.

“Those who do not wear masks in public places in Delhi will be fined Rs 500. Penalty shall not be applicable for persons traveling together in private four-wheelers,” said the notification issued by the Delhi government.

The decision has been taken due to the increase in the positive rate of COVID-19 infections in Delhi over the past fortnight, the notification said.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), after examining all relevant information regarding the penal provisions for non-compliance with the COVID-19 protocol of wearing masks in public places, has decided to impose fines immediately.
