As per the report of, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Delhi’s Air Quality Index on Diwali night (AQI) hit the “very bad” category with an AQI of 377 in Anand Vihar at 9 pm on Monday. It’s the first “very poor” atmosphere day of the season for the capital of India.
According to the data, pollution has increased due to the bursting of firecrackers in almost all the stations of the capital from 8 pm to 1 am. The most polluted area was in South Delhi. The most polluted stations are RK Puram, Okhla, Karni Singh Shooting Range, and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
As well the quality of air was reported in the ‘poor to very poor’ category in Ghaziabad Faridabad (256), Greater Noida (270), (301), Noida (303), Gurugram (325) on Monday.
According to IQAir, Delhi was the world’s most polluted city on Diwali, followed by Lahore in Pakistan. However, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s air quality on Diwali was still better than last three years. Earlier, the city had recorded an AQI of 382 last Diwali. Delhi recorded an AQI of 414 in 2020; 337 in 2019 and 281 in 2018.
