Dettol & NDTV’s ‘Banega Swasth India’: One World Hygiene for Global Health

India’s most trusted news network, NDTV presents the milestone 10th season of ‘Banega Swasth India,’ the nation’s longest-running public health campaign. Launched in partnership with Dettol nine years ago, this multi-award-winning initiative has positively impacted over 24 million children in India. It achieved this through a series of innovative programs, activities, and tools, all dedicated to ingraining hygiene as an essential part of daily life.In its 10th year, the campaign takes on the theme of ‘One World Hygiene for Global Health and Well-being’, powered by the number 10—Dus Ka Dum. It shines a spotlight on the strengths, insights, experiences, and accomplishments of the Banega Swasth India campaign. The primary focus of One World Hygiene is to inspire empathy and solidarity, especially for those without access to essential hygiene resources. Additionally, the 10th season anticipates and addresses emerging challenges with its ‘Dus Kadam’ initiative.

The ‘Banega Swasth India’ partnership between Dettol and NDTV has grown stronger, offering hope to millions. It serves as a platform for influential voices united in supporting this vital cause. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has publicly recognized the campaign’s impact on raising public awareness. The annual live event on October 2nd underscores the crucial role of better hygiene and nutrition in enhancing India’s health.

With a steadfast commitment to promoting health and wellness nationwide, the 10th season witnessed the participation of distinguished guests, including Smt. Droupadi Murmu, President of India; Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways; Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Jal Shakti; Conrad Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya; Brajesh Pathak, Deputy Chief Minister and Cabinet Minister of Medical Education, Medical and Health, and Family Welfare; Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan; and Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, LGBTQIA activist. Renowned Bollywood celebrities such as Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar graced the event, accompanied by captivating performances by artists like Daler Mehndi, Neha Kakkar, Adnan Sami, and rapper Moko Koza.Ayushmann Khurrana (Campaign Ambassador), Sanjay Pugalia (CEO & Editor in Chief, AMG Media Network, Director, NDTV Limited), Kris Licht (Chief Executive Officer, Reckitt), Gaurav Jain (Executive Vice President, Reckitt South Asia) and Ravi Bhatnagar (Director-External Affairs and Partnerships, South Asia, Reckitt) also spoke at the event.

Throughout its journey, NDTV-Dettol Banega Swasth India has achieved numerous milestones, including reaching 850,000 schools with hygiene content, hosting hygiene olympiads and play parks, creating a hygiene music album, establishing India’s first climate-resilient schools, preserving folk art, and delivering culturally adaptive hygiene programs. As part of the program, India’s inaugural public health and hygiene-focused podcast, ‘Swasthya Mantra’, was introduced, along with the online game ‘Hygieia’. Since 2014, Dettol and NDTV have been steadfastly working towards a cleaner and healthier India.
