Prof. Dr. Sunita Samal, a renowned obstetrician and gynaecologist, is a consultant at Apollo Women’s Hospital in Chennai, specialising in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Samal is a former HOD at SRM Medical College Hospital, Kattan Kuttur; a former professor at MGMC & RI, Pondicherry; and a 16-year UG&PG teacher at DNB Faculty. Dr. Sunita Samal is from Apollo Women’s Hospitals in Chennai. She is doing OPD at Midnapur on October 14 and Naihati on October 15 and visits there every 3 months.
She has special interest in laparoscopy, hysteroscopic and vaginal surgeries, high-risk obstetrics, basic fertility, and medical education. Prof. Dr. Sunita Samal has published 52 articles in national and international journals, earning awards like the Best Poster Award at AICOG 2015 and 2017, the First Prize in FOGS International Quiz 2002, and the Dr. Anjalatchi Chandrasekhar Award for Best Research Paper 2020.
Dr. Sudeepta Kumar Swain, husband of Dr. Sunita Samal, is a senior consultant at Apollo Proton Cancer Centre and Head of the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology at Apollo Main Hospital. He has received numerous awards, published 33 papers, served as faculty and HOD for the DNB program at Apollo Main Hospital, Chennai, and as course coordinator for GI Surgery at Apollo Simulation Centre.Prof. Dr. Sunita Samal, a member of FOGSI, OGSSI, IAGE, AMASI, and ISUOG, has organised CME on endometriosis, cancer cervix, adolescent gynaecology, labour update, and the National PG Revision Programme.
