Driving Green: Bhutan Promotes Electric Vehicles with Subsidies

Bhutan’s government has rolled out a new electric vehicle (EV) subsidy program to reduce air pollution and promote sustainable transportation. Under the plan, citizens will receive financial incentives to purchase EVs, with additional support for charging infrastructure across the country. Bhutan aims to phase out fossil-fuel-powered vehicles by 2035.

The government is also collaborating with private companies to introduce electric buses for public transport. With its commitment to carbon neutrality, Bhutan is setting an example for environmentally conscious development in South Asia.
