EV leasing platform Drivn has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tata Motors to explore customised leasing and financing solutions for electric commercial vehicles, with plans to deploy more than 1,000 electric trucks over the next two years. Under the partnership, Drivn will offer bespoke operating lease solutions for Tata Motors’ electric commercial vehicle portfolio, helping fleet operators address challenges related to high upfront costs, deployment timelines, charging infrastructure and fleet operations.
Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head – Trucks at Tata Motors, said the collaboration aims to make electric trucks more accessible and support India’s transition towards sustainable transportation. Manav Bansal, CEO and Co-founder of Drivn, said combining Tata Motors’ vehicle portfolio with Drivn’s leasing model could make fleet electrification more commercially viable and scalable. Alpna Jain, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer at Drivn, said the partnership would bring together vehicle maintenance, uptime support and technology to monitor fleet efficiencies. Tata Motors recently introduced electric trucks ranging from 7 to 55 tonnes under its Tata Trucks.ev brand, built on the I-MOEV architecture and designed for applications including e-commerce logistics, construction material movement and port operations.
In Kolkata, the partnership could find relevance among logistics, e-commerce and industrial fleet operators across eastern India. With Kolkata serving as a major commercial and port-linked logistics hub, customised leasing models may help operators reduce capital expenditure and accelerate the adoption of electric commercial vehicles as charging infrastructure and the broader EV ecosystem continue to expand.
