Drugs worth Rs 7.64 crore were found in Mizoram

In a coordinated operation, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police arrested the drug smuggler on Wednesday and confiscated heroin and highly addictive methamphetamine tablets valued at over Rs 7.64 crore. According to a defense spokesperson, a drug dealer was apprehended by Assam Rifles troops and Mizoram Police officers in Zokhawthar in the nearby Champhai district on Tuesday night, and a massive haul of heroin and methamphetamine pills (weighing 2.276 kg) valued at Rs 7.64 crore was found inside him.

Lalruatzauva (34), a resident of Champhai district, which shared borders with Myanmar, was identified as the drug dealer who was apprehended. The entire narcotics shipment and the person were detained by the Zokhawthar district police department for additional investigation and legal action. According to a police official, the drugs were brought in illegally from Myanmar. The continuous smuggling of illegal goods is a serious problem for both India and the state of Mizoram. According to an official release, the Assam Rifles have intensified their efforts to apprehend the kingpins and have persisted in their attempts to combat illegal smuggling.
