Eviction operation started from Nagaon on Monday; Strict security measures were put in place for the drive. An eviction drive was carried out near the birthplace of Vaishnava saint Srimanta Shankardeva.
According to sources, the eviction drive began in the Shantijan Bazar area with the deployment of over 600 security personnel and has been peaceful so far.
“After Santijan Bazaar we will clear the land in Haidubi area and depending on the time taken there, we will decide on the operation in the remaining two villages”, said Nagaon SP.
An eviction drive will be launched over the next few days to clear over 1,200 bighas of allegedly encroached land in areas under Dhing revenue circle.
