Field Day on Oyster Mushroom Cultivation organized by Minjo Basar

As part of the Front Line Demonstration, West Siang KVK hosted a field day on “oyster mushroom cultivation” on Tuesday to highlight the accomplishments of oyster mushroom cultivation by Gori-II village’s working farmer, Minjo Basar. Prof. Lobsang Wangsu, head of the ICAR regional center research complex in Basar, stressed the importance of oyster mushroom farming for aspiring entrepreneurs during the seminar.

ArSRLM block coordinator Kartoh Gara encouraged SHGs and PLFs to spread oyster mushroom cultivation for livelihood and socioeconomic development, while Horticulture Development Officer Li Khandu pushed farmers to embrace the effective technology that KVK had proven in farmers’ fields. CTO Home Science Bharati Saloi described the oyster mushroom’s value addition, while Dr. Praveen Kumar discussed the government’s startup program.

Dr. Kangabam Suraj, the chief in-charge of West Siang KVK, praised Minjo Basar for his accomplishments in growing oyster mushrooms. In order to guarantee nutrient security and encourage self-employment among young people in rural areas, Suraj also showcased technologies as part of the Front Line Demonstration to raise knowledge about oyster mushroom production among farmers.
