Filmmaker was taken into custody after his wife, Riya Kumari actress by profession was shot dead yesterday during an alleged highway robbery attempt in West Bengal, police said. The arrest was done after the family of an actress from Jharkhand, registered a complaint against her spouse Prakash Kumar and his siblings, said Swati Bhangalia, Howrah (Rural) SP.
The duo was on a way from Ranchi to Kolkata with their 3 yr old daughter when three men rob the husband and his belongings and shot dead his wife when she protested, said police.
The incident took place Wednesday morning on NH 16 in Howrah district.
During interrogation, Mr Kumar saaid that the robbers ran away after shooting at his wife. He then asked for help from the local residents. The actress was declared brought dead at a hospital in Uluberia.
