Film Producer Karan Johar donates ₹11 lakh for Assam flood relief, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma thanks him

Film producer Karan Johar on Tuesday donated Rs 11 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Relief Fund for flood relief. The state chief minister shared the information on his Twitter handle praising Karan. Many Bollywood celebrities like Arjun Kapoor, Rohit Shetty, Sonu Nigam have contributed to the cause.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma tweeted “Grateful to film producer @karanjohar and Dharma Productions for donating ₹11 lakh to CM Relief Fund.” He also acknowledged the initiative taken by Bollywood director Rohit Shetty to “unite the entire film industry due to #Assamflood”.

Earlier, Rohit Shetty and actor Arjun Kapoor contributed ₹5 lakh each to CMRF. Film and music producer and T-Series owner Bhushan Kumar donated ₹11 lakh while singer Sonu Nigam donated ₹5 lakh to the CM Relief Fund as aid for flood relief and rehabilitation.

Karan is getting back on track after years with his upcoming movie Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Shabana Azmi and Alia. It is going to release on February 10, 2023. His remaining directorial venture was Ae Dil Hai in 2016.

He is also gearing up for the seventh season of his famous talk show Koffee with Karan. The new promo, shared by Karan from the talk show, hints at Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, who will appear together in episode 1. Apart from them, some prominent names who are going to add some fireplace this season are Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. The first episode will move to Disney Hotstar on July 7.
