Filmproducer Sawan Kumar Tak passes away in Mumbai; Salman Khan pays condolences

Sawan Kumar Tak, the director of famous Bollywood films Sanam Bewafa, Souten, and Sajan Bina Suhagan, died in Mumbai on Thursday. The director was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai a few days ago over a lung-related ailment.
In 2006, he directed the Salman Khan-starrer Saawan: The Love Season. Apart from directing, Sawan ventured into writing, song writing and film production. He has written the songs for almost all the films produced and directed by him. He has also composed songs for films by various directors.

Superstar Salman Khan led the Bollywood bridge to express his condolences. She shared a picture with the filmmaker and wrote, “May you rest in peace my dear Sawan Ji. Always cherished and respected you.”

Meanwhile, Sawan started his profession in Bollywood in the latter 1/2 of the Sixties as a producer on Sanjeev Kumar’s film Naunihal. Five years later in 1972, he made his directorial debut with Gomti Ke Kinare, actress Meena Kumari’s swansong..

Sawan was the ex-wife of track director Usha Khanna. His nephew is distributor and producer Naveen Tak, who additionally spoke about his uncle’s illness and how his condition was deteriorating over the past few days. Sawan quickly got engaged to actress Radha Barta in the early 80s.
