Fire erupts in picnic bus in Tripura after generator blast, 11 injured

A picnic bus in Tripura’s West District caught fire after a generator exploded inside the vehicle, leaving 11 individuals injured. The incident occurred on Sunday evening near Jagatpur Chowmuhani as a group was returning from a day of festivities.According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Chiranjeeb Chakraborty, three CNG buses had been hired to transport a picnic party to Baas Gram, a popular tourist destination. Tragedy struck on their way back to Champaknagar when one of the buses was engulfed in flames following a generator blast.

“All passengers in the affected bus were safely evacuated. However, 11 individuals suffered injuries due to smoke inhalation, and one person sustained minor burns,” said the Additional SP. He confirmed that all the injured were promptly rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment and are now reported to be in stable condition. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his deep concern over the unfortunate event. In a statement, he extended his prayers for the injured and confirmed that six severely affected individuals were transferred to GB Pant Hospital for specialized care.

CM Saha assured the public that the state administration is closely monitoring the situation and has instructed medical teams to provide the best possible care to the injured. He also urged citizens to prioritize safety during recreational outings to prevent such mishaps.
