The first National Lok Adalat of 2025 is set to take place across Tripura on March 8, providing a platform for speedy and cost-free resolution of legal disputes. According to Jhuma Dutta Chowdhury, Member Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, the Lok Adalat will be held at the Tripura High Court, along with district and sub-divisional court premises.
A total of 21,247 cases will be taken up for settlement across 42 benches, including 340 motor accident compensation cases, 3,509 bank loan disputes, 1,245 BSNL bill-related cases, and 15,815 compensable criminal disputes. Additionally, 260 marital disputes, 52 cheque bounce cases, 10 buyer interest cases, eight employment-related matters, and five civil cases will be addressed. Notices have already been issued to the involved parties, allowing them to engage in pre-conciliation proceedings. Para-legal volunteers (Odhikar Mitragans) are assisting participants to ensure a smooth process.
Dutta Chowdhury urged all concerned individuals to take advantage of this opportunity for swift dispute resolution through the Lok Adalat system.
